Senior Will and Testimony Posted Thursday, April 29, 2010 08:10 PM I found the yellowed High Life that has the our class Senior Will and Testimony. I was in the journalism class and vaguely remember sitting around the classroom helping put these together. I'm appalled at some of them, and some of them I just no longer get. Many are fine, innocuous and not nearly as clever as we probably thought they were. But some are cruel, insensitive, and downright not funny. I also know we didn't mean them to be that way, but I now know that intentions are immaterial. I can't believe Mrs. Noyes didn't exercise her editorial authority and stop us from publishing these. She missed a great teaching moment! I wish I hadn't saved that paper! Anyway, for whatever my part might have been in writing hurtful comments, I sincerely apologize. Mine said I had "just been admitted as the first female student at Yale." Pretty blah, and the closest I got to anything Ivy League was Lawrence, KS! Really, no girls at Yale in 1962? I didn't remember that! |
