Many of our teachers had pet expressions that we heard over and over. I can remember only a few, but I know there were a lot more. Maybe we can dredge some up from our collective memories and get something closer to a complete list. If you have any springing to mind, please reply and add them in.

Mr. Heckethorn:
All right, you yardbirds.
When in doubt, be sure. (My personal favorite.)
Mr. Frazier:
                Back in ’28 …
Mrs. Matson:
                Orgagnize your work.
Mr. Estes (courtesy of Ted Helmer’s profile):
                Shut up!
Mr. Randall:
Mr. Va … uh, Mr. La … uh, Mr. Yoder. (You may not remember this one, but I heard it a lot.)
Mr. Young (7th grade basketball coach):
Grandma was slow, but she was old.
Mr. Barclay (7th grade Manual Training):
                No horseplay!
Miss Smith (5th grade)
Take your seats quickly but quietly.

Your teacher expressions brought back many good memories.  Harry Heckethron would say on the football field after someone would fail to execute an assignment properly that "You look like Ned in the third reader".

I'm still researching the expression because I didn't know what it meant then and I'm still powerfully confused and feel like Ned in the third reader.  Even so,  I was still able to use it on raising my two Sons about one million times.

P.S.  McPherson was blessed to have some very good teachers!
