Instant Messages

We recently enabled Live Chat and Instant Messages because they're apparently popular on other classes’ websites.  Both allow messages to be typed in for other members to see instantly. The main difference between them seems to be that any member can enter into the Live Chat and Instant Messages can be private.

If anything should be added here or if you have any questions, click on Contact Us or send a message to me.  Lane  11/14/10

How do you send Instant Messages?  When you log in, a red bar will appear on the bottom of your screen.  Click on it and click on a name of someone you want to send a message to.  When the IM window opens, click in the space at the bottom where it says "Type a message."  Enter your message and press Enter to send it.

You don't have an Instant Messages bar?  If you don’t see a red bar on the bottom of your screen when you're logged on, your IM feature isn’t enabled.  Click on Edit Profile and check the Instant Messages box at the bottom.  (And click on the Save Changes button.)  If you don’t want to participate in IM or if you don’t like the bar, uncheck the box.

The IM window doesn’t appear when you click on it?  You need to download the latest version of the Adobe Flash player at www.adobe.com.  It’s free and easy to download.

The IM screen is too big?  If you don’t see the whole IM screen, you need to shrink it with Ctrl scroll (hold the Ctrl key down and scroll with the mouse dial or touch pad).

Live Video?  If you have a camera & mike with your computer, you can have a nice live conversation.

Want more info?  Click on the blue question mark on the IM screen.
